Caporales DK

2024  — 2025

Ca­por­ales DK is a folk­lore dance group based in Sweden and Den­mark. The group has been act­ive for more than 10 years with the uni­fy­ing pur­pose to share part of the Bolivian dance cul­ture yearly dur­ing the Car­ni­vals in Copen­ha­gen and Malmö, as well as present­ing in smal­ler events. The group is vo­lun­teer-driven and fun­draises every year to main­tain its activ­it­ies. The mem­bers of the group have changed over the years, and dan­cers join re­gard­less of their ori­gin or af­fil­i­ation with Bolivian cul­ture.  It is the shared pas­sion and love for the folk­loric dance that brings the group to­gether. I joined Ca­por­ales DK in 2024 and have par­ti­cip­ated in the parades both years as a “macha”.

Humanas de niebla — Voice Ensemble

Hu­manas de niebla is a voice col­lect­ive per­form­ing im­pro­visa­tional chants in a ce­re­mo­nial man­ner. Hu­mans de niebla was cre­ated through the prac­tice of chant­ing, fol­low­ing Flavia Huar­achi’s mu­sical pro­jects. Mem­bers of the group in­clude Flavia Huar­a­chi, Mar­ijke Florien Maes, Chris Ferro, Na­dio Ok­rusko and me.

An ex­plor­a­tion into the fe­male deep psyche — “Hu­manas de la niebla” un­folds, in sound & song, the rich in­ter­cul­tural myths & wild nature that resides in the hu­man body. Through a med­it­at­ive ap­proach to wake up the lan­guage of the body with mu­sic im­pro­visa­tion, space & move­ment, the per­formers aim to evoke the Mist be­ings of un­con­scious­ness.

Hu­manas de niebla have en­gaged in a move­ment re­search prac­tice with co­reo­grapher Ser­giu Mat­tis. We have per­formed in vari­ous events through­out 2021 to 2023. Per­form­ance col­lab­or­a­tions in­clude Jan Kadereit (per­cus­sion) and Ig­nacio Cór­doba (move­ment, per­cus­sion, voice). Per­form­ances in­clude St. Au­gustine’s Church (2020), Brøn­shøj Wa­ter Tower (2022), and Maskin­hal­len (2023). 

Ey-Kat-a- lep-see

Copenhagen | 2021

Per­form­ance pro­ject and mu­sic re­lease led by Flavia Huar­a­chi, where I par­ti­cip­ated with move­ment and sound per­form­ances. From Flavi­a’s pro­ject ex­cerpt: “Ey-Kat-I-Lep-See is a mani­fest­a­tion of the realms of a woman’s un­con­scious, of the body that speaks. It is a sound-in­stall­a­tion, a mu­sic con­cert, an aes­thetic ab­stract art piece, an agrestic raw mani­fest­a­tion of primal hu­man ex­pres­sion, a Childs play, a space/ritual that evokes/offers re­lease of primal en­ergy to the per­formers and the audi­ence. Ey-Kat-I-Lep-See is a large en­samble rep­res­ent­ing a fe­male body, in which many states and voices reside, who each evokes emo­tions, which by them­selves, don’t posses names of their own. They can only speak through land­scapes of sounds, of dis­son­ance, of noise, of song.”

K’usillos Imillas

An al­most the­at­rical storytelling of two sis­ters; of an up­bring­ing with aunts and their sig­na­ture dance at fam­ily parties, their in­ter­de­pend­ence and struggle to sup­port one an­other and their paths in find­ing an iden­tity and re­la­tion­ship to one an­other in the cur­rent time.

 Dreams and an­imal worlds are brought into rhythm and play with the mind­ful­ness of our per­son­al­ity lay­ers and how we re­late to our out­er­most self, which some­times can be as puffy as a jacket. Our cho­reo­graphy was in­spired by the dan­cer’s dream nar­rat­ives, an­imal move­ments and play­ful­ness with the cos­tume ma­ter­i­als.

Shape of Moving Waves

Uferstudios, Berlin | 2019

23 dan­cers be­come mo­lecules, which in­ter­act, re­act and are re­acted upon by the sound­scape. We dance in a grid, where po­s­i­tion in mat­ters sound-wise. We con­nect, re­act to one an­other, as mo­lecules do, we break apart and syn­chron­ize as a whole body.
